  • Wireless Networks Like Never Before Using Bluetooth Technology – by Graham Pendegrast
By Buy Zigbee on May 24th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Most everyone has heard about Bluetooth wireless networking. It is a popular technology that is found in just about every corner of the globe and in numerous types of electronic equipment. The specifications for the powerful Bluetooth technology was invented during the 1990s and started to be introduced into the marketplace near the end of the century.

Ericsson (now Sony Ericsson) developed Bluetooth in an attempt to standardize wireless technology networking so that it would be cheaper and easier to integrate several devices. The ideal situation for the consumer would be for electronic companies to produce a single, shared standard, allowing customers to collaborate their wireless devices regardless of who made the products.

One of the factors that has helped Bluetooth become so popular, and the standard in short-range wireless communication, was the decision that Ericsson made to keep the Bluetooth specifications royalty free. Companies interested in implementing the technology were invited to join a consortium of developers and were then allowed to use the technology free-of-charge in any of their products.

This standard makes technology extremely affordable for manufacturers to continue creating groundbreaking equipment that incorporates the desired technology. Because of this, these devices have also become cheaper to the end user, and it has allowed Bluetooth networking to be the mobile wireless technology standard.

These electronic gadgets and tools can seamlessly connect and communicate with each other, transferring both voice and data simultaneously, thanks to the marvels of wireless networking technology. Bluetooth technology is designed for three types of wireless defined communication ranges.

Of these, the Class 2 wireless devices are the most powerful, having a range of up to 300 feet. Effective ranges of 50-100 feet are provided by lesser powered class 2 devices. Class 3 devices use less power, and their range is more limited to only about 15 to 30 feet.

Many people do not realize that Bluetooth technology was only designed for short-range connectivity and communications. When it was designed, the short-range limitation was actually an intentional feature.

This short-range design limits the possibility of interference from nearby electrical devices. This form of security prevents others from connecting with your devices, and protects the device along with your data.

Using less power, a necessary requirement for short distance transmission, is another benefit of limiting the range of networking devices. Less power required means an increased battery life, a key component required by most users, as a good many of their Bluetooth devices are powered by batteries.

There are a multitude of electronic devices that use Bluetooth wireless networking standards, such as: many wireless PDAs, wireless phones and wireless headsets that work in conjunction with each other and the Bluetooth wireless printer and wireless stereo headset, just to mention a few. Bluetooth technology is increasingly in demand in a wider range of products and manufacturers are working hard to satisfy this demand with more compatible electronic devices.

As a Sacramento computer service expert Graham Pendegrast knows how useful Bluetooth technology can be for a company’s networking needs. For more complicated networking jobs Graham recommends Integral Networks, a Sacramento IT consulting company.

  • What is the BMW Bluetooth Retrofit? – by Wayne Hemrick Wayne HemrickLevel: PlatinumWayne Hemrick enjoys the sunny weather found in Phoenix. He spends his time learning about business and keeps himself busy working around his home. He … …
By Buy Zigbee on May 24th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

If you’re one of those who drives a BMW 3 or 5 series or X5 built between 2002 and 2006 and are seeking a way to bring your car’s sound system up to date, consider a BMW Bluetooth retrofit for your automobile’s sound system.

    What Is Bluetooth?

You’ve probably heard of Bluetooth, but may not know exactly what it is, how it works or why you should equip your older vehicle with a BMW Bluetooth retrofit.

Bluetooth technology (named after a rather despotic Scandinavian king of the late Viking Age) is really a type of electronic protocol – an industry standard that allows different electronic devices such as personal computers, printers, cel phones, and a wide range of digital devices to connect to each other and exchange information without the need for cumbersome cables and wires. It operates in a manner that is similar to a short-range radio frequency.

    Uses and Capabilities

Bluetooth is highly effective for small devices that are in close proximity (up to 100 meters apart, depending on whether the device is Class I, II or III). Because of this, a BMW Bluetooth retrofit is ideal for the small, enclosed environment of an automobile interior.

If you’re like many busy people, you have a mobile phone with you and activated most of the time – including drive time. However, use of a cel phone while driving is unsafe, and actually illegal in many places. By installing a BMW Bluetooth retrofit in your classic vehicle, you’ll enjoy “hands-free” communication when receiving an important call while behind the wheel. You won’t even have to remove your cel phone from your pocket!

Taking It To The Next Level

A BMW Bluetooth retrofit allows you to integrate your cel phone into your vehicle quickly and easily. One of the most useful aspects of this is the ability to activate your cel phone and dial a number using voice commands. If your phone is equipped with this capability, you can simply speak the number you wish to dial, and your BMW Bluetooth retrofit allows it to dial it for you – automatically!

In addition, newer phones and navigation systems can display information right on your vehicle’s own digital displays (i.e., the instrument cluster).

    No More Missed Calls

You probably enjoy playing your radio or CDs while commuting. You’ll be glad to know that the BMW Bluetooth retrofit automatically mutes the music or other audio programming when receiving or making a call.

    Get Started Now

The BMW Bluetooth retrofit is designed for simple installation using the original manufacturer wiring. It really is as simple as “plug and play,” and afterwards, you’ll be able to control all of your cell phone’s functions using nothing more than the steering wheel controls, radio knobs and of course, your own voice. It’s easy and economical to update your vehicle with a BMW Bluetooth retrofit.

Wayne Hemrick installs audio systems for BMW’s. He specializes in the BMW Bluetooth retrofit, and provides advice on BMW Bluetooth installation. If you are considering a BMW Bluetooth retrofit, Wayne’s advice will be helpful in understanding how the BMW Bluetooth kits work.

  • The Popularity Of Bluetooth Wireless Networking Is Growing – by Mike Selvon
By Buy Zigbee on May 24th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Bluetooth wireless networking is a technology that is sweeping the globe and being integrated into a wide variety of electronic devices these days. The underlying Bluetooth technology was developed in the mid 1990s and began to be seen in more and more pieces of equipment toward the end of the decade.

The developers of Bluetooth, Ericsson (which has since become Sony Ericsson), endeavored to create a single standard for wireless technology networking that could be easily and inexpensively integrated into various electronic devices for ease of connectivity. Having a single standard shared by all electronic developers, designers and manufacturers was the ideal because it would allow the end user to enjoy wireless networking of their devices, regardless of who manufactured the electronic item.

Ericsson made a strategically brilliant decision in the early days of Bluetooth wireless networking technology. They decided to make the Bluetooth specifications available free of charge to companies that were interested in developing and implanting the technology into their products. This created a spirit of cooperation amongst the developers.

This has helped to make this technology very affordable for companies to continue to develop innovative products using the latest technology platform. This has also made its networking to quickly become the standard in mobile wireless technology, and has made the devices more affordable for the end user as well.

With wireless networking technology functioning in different devices, these electronic tools and gadgets are able to seamlessly connect with each other and communicate and transfer both voice and data simultaneously. The Bluetooth wireless technology provides for three different kinds of defined communication ranges.

The Class 1 devices are the most powerful and have a range of up to 300 feet. Class 2 devices are of lesser power and provide an effective range of 50 to 100 feet. The Class 3 devices require even less power and their range is limited to approximately 15 to 30 feet.

One thing many people fail to recognize is that this latest technology was never designed to provide for anything other than short-range connectivity and communications. And, this short-range limitation is actually a benefit that was intentionally designed into the specifications.

The first benefit of the short-range design of its networking is that this factor limits the possibility of interference from devices belonging to others who are in close proximity. This keeps others from connecting with your devices and is a form of basic security intended to protect your devices and your data.

Another benefit of limiting the range of networking devices is that less power is required for the transmission over shorter distances. This in turn means that you can enjoy longer battery life, and since the majority of its enabled products are powered by battery, this is an important feature for most users.

There are a multitude of electronic devices that use Bluetooth wireless networking standards, such as: the Bluetooth wireless PDA, the Bluetooth wireless phone and the Bluetooth wireless headset than works in conjunction with them, the Bluetooth wireless printer, the Bluetooth wireless stereo headset, just to mention a few. Bluetooth technology is increasingly in demand in a wider range of products and manufacturers are working hard to satisfy this demand with more Bluetooth enabled electronic devices.

Educate yourself further about bluetooth wireless networking from Mike Selvon articles portal. Your feedback is valued and appreciated at our bluetooth wireless technology blog where a free audio gift awaits you.

Advertising is the key part of business marketing. If the advertisement succeeds, it can mean big profit. Advertising requires innovative thinking in today’s world because the traditional advertising mediums are becoming very expensive. A well thought advertising that is different may create a big impact. But advertising is not being given the attention it deserves. As soon as the profits go down or the market scenario looks bad, advertising expenditures are cut first. How much do you know about advertising in a business? Please quiz yourself about that.

What should be the ideal percentage of advertising in total marketing expenditure?

Should the advertising expenditure increase with growing business or decrease?

Which advertising media should be used for advertising in a very low budget?

Should every business advertise in the beginning?

Are advertising professionals must for getting the best return out of the expenditure?

Is a small market survey about advertising effectiveness always necessary before full-fledged advertising campaign?

Do women add value to advertising? What if you are advertising nuts and bolts?

These are some small questions that I have raised about advertising in business. Please think about the answers. Advertising is tricky, because wrong advertising means total loss. There is no scrap left to recover anything. It is like a bad dream, but it costs. A business succeeds if the advertising succeeds at the right budget. • Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset – The Best Choice For My Money – by Ron Stephens Ron StephensLevel: Basic PLUSRon Stephens has been successful in business and sales for the last 25 years. He has been happily married for 33 years and is the … …
By Buy Zigbee on May 24th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

My first bluetooth headset was a Motorola. It always sort of flopped around on my ear no matter which of the three ear hooks I used. Sound quality was ok, but the headset itself was never comfortable. Because of the loose fit, I was always conscious that it was there and sub-consciously afraid that it would fall off.

Since that first headset, I have had several others. Until I purchased my Plantronics Voyager 510, I didn’t think there was a bluetooth headset that would fit snug and be comfortable. However, I can truly say that it is so comfortable, that after I have had it on for a few minutes, I sometimes forget that I’m even wearing it.

There have even been times that my phone has rang, I pulled it out of my holster to answer it, and banged it against my headset as I put it to my ear, because I forgot that I was wearing it!

The Plantronics Voyager is probably not the most sophisticated headset available. It is definitely not the smallest, and maybe not the best looking or least noticable. It is pretty good sized, with a boom microphone that comes half way down my cheek.

I don’t really care too much about the looks however because I’m not comfortable walking around in the grocery store, or the mall talking on a headset while people look at me, so I only wear it when I am driving. Because I only use it in my car, I don’t really care how big it is (as long as it is comfortable) or what it looks like.

But after owning several headsets, and being unhappy with fit and sound quality of most of the others, I really like my Plantronics Voyager. It has great sound quality, and people I am talking to on the other end don’t seem to know that I am on a headset. Another thing I like about it is the the talk time is huge. Six hours of power talking.

The only downside to the Voyager is the size of the on/off button. It is small and hard to press. The volume controls are ok. The off hook switch however is very well placed and easy to use.

At the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $99, its definitely a little spendy. But if you shop around like I did, you can find it at half that price, which puts the Plantronics Voyager 510 bluetooth headset at one of the best values for a bluetooth headset for sure.

  • Personal Wireless Networking – by Jason Keno
By Buy Zigbee on May 24th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

If you’ve got a wireless network for your computers already, well, you might get a bit excited about what I’m going to say next. How would you feel if your PDA, your mobile phone, your mp3 player and almost everything else you connect to your computer could be wireless too? You’d like that? Well, it’s already a reality and has been for some time now.

Bluetooth is wireless and automatic, and has a number of interesting features that can simplify our daily lives. Bluetooth is a standard developed by a group of electronics manufacturers that allows any sort of electronic equipment — from computers and cell phones to keyboards and headphones — to make its own connections, without wires, cables or any direct action from a user. Read on…

    Personal Area Network.

Using wireless networking with your personal gadgets is often called PAN, which stands for Personal Area Network. The idea is that, in the future, we’ll all have laptop computers with their batteries charged and no more need to connect any wires to them at all — you just place your Bluetooth device near the computer, and the computer sees it and can use it straightaway.

Bluetooth has been around and in-use since 1999, and it’s only getting more popular. It was designed to be secure, low cost, and easy to use from day one.

There are two classes of Bluetooth that are in popular use: class 1 and class 2. Class 2 is the most common and cheaper standard, allowing you to use a device that is up to 10 metres (32 feet) away. Class 1 is rarer, but you can still find devices that use it easily enough, and it has ten times the range: 100 metres or 320 feet.

    How Does It Work?

Bluetooth is more flexible than 802.11 wireless networking, in exchange for the shorter range. Essentially, a Bluetooth-enabled computer has one Bluetooth receiver installed in it, and this receiver can then be used with up to 7 nearby Bluetooth devices. On the other end, wireless devices do not need to have Bluetooth installed if they support it — it is already integrated.

Like 802.11, Bluetooth works by using radio signals to create bandwidth. It is not, though, the same thing as an old-style wireless mouse or keyboard, which required a receiver to be plugged into one of your computers’ ports, and didn’t have range or stability anywhere near that of Bluetooth.

Many computers now come with built in Bluetooth, especially Apple Macs. If you want to add Bluetooth to a computer that doesn’t come with it pre-installed, you should probably use a USB to Bluetooth adapter, although internal Bluetooth devices to install in your computer are available. If you have a laptop and a spare PCMCIA slot, you can get Bluetooth cards for that too.

What Can You Do With Bluetooth?

Mobile phones with Bluetooth are very popular, and so are PDAs — the instant synchronisation of addresses and calendars to a computer is a useful feature. Other than that, almost anything that would usually use USB can be done using Bluetooth, including digital cameras, mp3 players, printers, and even mice and keyboards. If you take a look through the comprehensive list of Bluetooth ‘profiles’ (kinds of devices that could, in theory, be Bluetooth enabled), it includes cordless phones, faxes, headsets, and even video.

Basically, more than anything, Bluetooth is a replacement for USB: some say that while 802.11 wireless networking is wireless Ethernet, Bluetooth is wireless USB.

    Not Just for Computers.

Part of the power of Bluetooth is that it isn’t just used to connect things to computers — it can be used to connect almost anything to anything else, if both things are Bluetooth-enabled and recognise each other.

Mobile phones, in particular, take advantage of this. Hands-free headsets often use Bluetooth to communicate with the phone. Some cars, for example, now have on-board computers that will connect with a Bluetooth phone and allow you to make hands-free calls, regardless of where the phone is in the car (even if you’ve left it in your bag in the trunk!)

On top of that, of course, Bluetooth devices can communicate with each other. This has led to some people sending messages from their Bluetooth PDAs to others in close range — not an especially useful feature, but quite fun. This is called ‘bluejacking’, and the first recorded instance of it was a man who sent a Bluetooth message to another man’s Nokia phone while they were in a bank together. What did the message say? ‘Buy Ericsson’.

Since then, it has become possible to send images by bluejacking, and it is widely believed to be the newest advertising medium — yes, it lets billboards send messages to your phone, a practice known as ‘bluecasting’. Whether you think that’s cool or annoying, of course, is your choice.

  • Mobile Phone Convictions Lead to Discounts For Drivers – by Andy Adams Andy AdamsLevel: PlatinumAndy is a Computing graduate and works in Mobile Communications, as such keeps up with the latest in mobile phones as well as computing related … …
By Buy Zigbee on May 24th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Here in the UK we’ve had laws dictating that you are not allowed to use your mobile phone whilst driving for a few years now, by and large most of us abide by this law and either use a Bluetooth car kit or simply don’t answer the call!

Over in the United State of America they have recently passed a similar law preventing people from using a mobile phone whilst driving too. Obviously much like over here in the UK there have been plenty of instances where police have had to pull over people flaunting this law, and they’ve received a ticket and probably a fine too. But there is one particular company that seems to suggest that getting one of these tickets isn’t necessarily totally a bad thing.

As a way to encourage drivers to be safe when driving many Bluetooth headset manufacturers will offer a discount if you get a ticket for operating a cell phone whilst driving. This strange approach has seen many Americans suddenly going out and buying headsets and driving more safely.

One such company, Aliph now has a specific page on their website where if you enter your ticket number and the state in which you received your ticket then you can look forward to a $20 discount. This discount is a welcome bonus for the company who makes fashionable minimalist headsets.

Bluetooth headsets are fairly common here in the UK with many business types and drivers seen seemingly talking to no one but in fact talking on their mobile phones via a Bluetooth headset. It looks as if Bluetooth headsets may now become one of the latest fashion accessories over in the USA. This can only mean good things for road safety which has already seen the number of minor collisions fall since the law was introduced.

Bluetooth headsets don’t even have to be expensive extras with some contracts and pay as you go sellers are offering mobile phone deals including a free Bluetooth headset to entice new customers to sign up. Aside from expensive built in Bluetooth kits in your car, having a Bluetooth headset is probably going to be the cheapest solution to communicating on the move. Many headsets offer incredible noise cancellation meaning that the person on the other end will only hear you, not the car radio or the engine roaring.

If you’re looking for cheap mobile phones then check out some of the new mobile phone deals for both contract and PAYG mobile phones.
